Here at Pizza 1889, we don’t think pizza should be complicated. Our passion is for simple, satisfying street pizza that’s made fresh every day, but isn’t overpriced. We use a classic Italian dough recipe and quality toppings that are sourced straight from Italy. Our classic pizza ovens mean we can serve hot, traditional stone-baked pizza within minutes – just like the Italians enjoy.

With seating available for those who want to take their time and watch our pizziolas at work, we welcome walk-ins at our branches in Surrey Quays, High Wycombe, Bristol and Cambridge, and also accept orders via Click & Collect and Deliveroo.

When Princess Margherita visited Naples in 1889, no-one, not even the renowned Neopolitan chef Raffaele Esposito, could have predicted the impact of the dish that he prepared and presented to her.

A soft, floury dough base covered in a rich tomato sauce, topped with mozzarella and baked in a stone oven finished with a garnish of hand-picked fresh basil. The Princess royally approved and, pronto, the pizza as we know it was born.

Today, we pay homage to Raffaele’s work by creating authentic stone baked pizzas of the highest quality. Using only the freshest ingredients and traditional techniques, our hand-made pizzas are made entirely onsite at our unique units.

Following in great Italian pizza making traditions requires craft, a love of fresh food and a whole lot of theatre. When you visit us, not only will we make your pizza by hand in front of your eyes, we’ll give you a slice of Italy to take away too.

Chef of the Month

Theatre's the name of the game here. The set is a funky former shipping container located in the car park of a shopping centre. But the stars of the show are the  virtuoso pizza chefs, who make your pizza by hand as you look on; the spicy salami topping is excellent. In fact it's so good that we'll happily wait with you for one of the 15 seats

    We had 'pizettas' which were only about £3 to £4 each but still pretty big and with
    Generous toppings. We all agreed that we would definitely go again.

    have thought! Fresh everything and great pizza chefs who know what they are doing.
    I would take a detour just to use again.
